On Thursday June 28, 2018, Chapman50 members were hosted by Gavin Herbert Jr, owner of the gardens and Chapman University Trustee, for a night of fellowship and networking, and Chapman50's last official event of the 2017/2018 year.
The event was held at the Farmhouse, the exclusive high-end restaurant located inside the gardens. Members and attendees were treated to a variety of food items and wines while Gavin detailed for us the history of the gardens.
Chapman50 members always look for opportunities to mentor (and be mentored). Part of Gavin's speech included a compelling story of mentorship, one that played a very important part in helping his son start his career at Amazon before leveraging his early experience to settle into more senior positions. Another great example of what focused mentorship can do to help students excel in their upcoming careers.
During the event, Chapman50 also recognized a number of new members who recently joined the group: Kurt Reick '03, Edison Cook '07, Kevin Tarbell '09, Tim Dunigan '10, and Alan Kacura '10. Welcome to the group!
Chapman50 is experiencing great momentum going into the new year and we all look forward to another series of great events in 2018/2019 with increased interactions between members, students and university leadership.
