On Saturday, November 7, members of Chapman50 attended Chapman University's largest annual fundraising event, American Celebration Gala Night. With 2015 marking its 34th year, American Celebration has raised over $26 million for student scholarships. The evening started with a cocktail hour in Attallah Piazza, followed by an amazing performance inside Memorial Hall by over 100 singing and dancing Chapman students. This year's American Celebration was the end of an era for the event inside Memorial Hall, as next year's event will be hosted in the brand new Musco Center for the Arts.
After the show, attendees gathered inside the tent on the Bert C. Williams Mall, just in front of Memorial Hall. Chapman50 attendees mixed with Chapman University trustees, governors, donors, and special guests while enjoying dinner and a live band. The opportunity for Chapman50 members to spend time with University leaders, such as trustees who have made incredible donations to build our University to its current level, was priceless. Members of Chapman50 are young alumni leaders with visions and plans to be involved with Chapman University for decades to come, so spending time with current trustees and University leaders was very inspiring and encouraging.
The fundraising goal for the event was $2 million. During the gala dinner it was announced that there was only $50,000 remaining to reach the goal. In response, Chapman50 member Alex Hayden ’95 stepped up and made the final $50,000 donation that completed American Celebration’s $2 million fundraising objective.
