Kurt has spent nearly 15 years at EY serving a variety of real estate and construction clients based in southern California, including traded and non traded REITs, homebuilding and land developers, engineering and construction companies, and real estate opportunity funds. Kurt began his career in EY’s Orange County office and transferred to the firm’s Los Angeles office in 2014.
Kurt provides accounting and audit services advising clients with respect to accounting and financial reporting matters including revenue recognition, mergers and acquisitions, policies and procedures, debt offerings, purchase accounting, consolidation matters as well as compliance with SEC financial reporting requirements. He has provided guidance, documentation assistance,testing and reporting for Section 404 requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, including first-year implementation.
Kurt earned a Bachelor of Science with a double major in both Accounting and Business Administration from Chapman University in 2003. While at Chapman Kurt was part of the founding father class of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. In 2011 and 2012 Kurt taught as an adjunct professor at Chapman University. Kurt is a CPA licensed in California, is a member of the AICPA, and holds a California real estate broker’s license.
Kurt grew up in Irvine, where he met his wife, Mara, at Woodbridge high school. He is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served as missionary for two years in Veracruz, Mexico. Kurt has four children Taylor (10), Mya (7), Bryce (5), and newborn Emery. He resides with his family in Huntington Beach on Trinidad Island. Kurt plays the saxophone, speaks Spanish, and enjoys Angel’s baseball.
